The UN Commits The American Military To Libya

Well, sadly, here we go again! Last night, The United Nations approved a ‘No Fly Zone’ over Libya. Isn’t that wonderful? Has anybody, who is reading this, voted for members of The UN?

Today, I called the offices of Congressman Boehner, and Cantor; as well as my own Representative. Congress, our ‘elected officials,’ did not even have a vote as to whether or not America should be involved at all, in Libya! Therefore, we not only have ‘unelected’ officials determining our foreign policy, but we also have ‘unelected’ officials, at The Federal Reserve, who are likely funding it. But, in the long-run, of course, we will be expected to pay for it!

Regardless of what is happening in Libya, there is no apparent threat to The Continental United States! Our Constitution says that only “Congress” can provide for The Common “Defense,” and Declare War:

Article 1, Section 8:
“The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States”

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water; To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years; To provide and maintain a Navy; To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces”

“To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions”

“To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress”

I am very disappointed in anyone who has been fighting for The United States Federal Government to reign in spending, but would also support this unnecessary military action! China, wisely, is staying out of these conflicts, while growing their economy, aggregating gold, and other resources; while, we sink further and further into the financial abyss!

And, even if we looked at this from a completely humanitarian point of view: If Qaddafi is overthrown, who is going to pay to prop up the next Government, and establish security? And, can anyone tell me, irrefutably, that the next Government will be any better then Qaddafi? Who are these rebels?

If there is anything we could have learned from, in the past, it is that our Government once considered Osama Bin Laden a Freedom-Fighter; and, how did that workout for us? I believe we provided Saddam Hussein with weapons, as well, to fight Iran, in the past.

Unfortunately, this action only confirms what I had known for quite a while: Both The Democrat and Republican Parties are two sides of the same BIG GOVERNMENT coin; and neither is capable, if even interested, in restoring our country to it’s great constitutional foundations. I will find it very hard to support either of these two parties going forward.
